Protecting your Blackberry Torch 9800 till kingdom come!

2 months of just sitting at home with no inspiration to blog. Meh.

I know, I left with my NYC Video (WIP, work in progress). My Vegas Pro trial has ended. boohoo. Time to buy it I guess. Not the 800$ but some other one in the line. Let's get back to the title post, protecting your Blackberry Torch 9800 till kingdom come!

I purchased the Torch back in 2010. I never really did a review on it because I didn't know how and it would be my own opinion on it. LOL!

I should have bought all the protective casing before I got the phone. Also, I felt like an early adopter for this phone. *le sigh* I had to wait for about 2 months or so for the full protective casing from Otterbox, as I purchased it online on the Low Yat Forums

The Otterbox for the Torch was great at first, until I dropped my phone a couple of times and the front plate broke because it only has 2 clasps, on the top & bottom. Many people complained about how flimsy it was. Getting a replacement would be a waste of time. Eventually, I stumbled upon a video of a guy who made himself a hybrid protective phone case. It was about 8 minutes long, so I'll cut it short for you.

He used the back portion of the Otterbox (silicon & hard plastic) and the front cover of the Platinum Series Case for Blackberry Torch 9800 along with the front protector which can put your phone into sleep mode as well.

In total, I've spent 35.00$ (RM105) for the Platinum Series Case, 35.00 ++$ (RM120) for the Otterbox and soon, 10$ (RM40) for the screen protector.

But because the phone is about to turn 2 in November and the fact that I've dropped it multiple times before I got my Otterbox, I am going to get a new housing for the phone & that will set me back yet another RM200. All these problems could have been solved if I had just got these items before I got the phone. Damn it.

If you are purchasing a new phone, and you know you might have the tendency of dropping it, buy an Otterbox (if you're using an iPhone, cuz Otterbox iPhone cases are indeed amazing) and if it's for bar phones for Blackberry, the Otterbox will work well. Slider phones may need a lot of work like mine.

May the force be with you, until my next post. Cheers!
